1. Who We Are

Gemistry ("we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application for gemstone education and collection management, published by E&T Apps. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at gemistryprosupport@eandtapps.co.uk.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to operate the app:

• Account information: When you create an account, we store your name and email address locally on your device to identify your account and provide subscription services.
• Subscription status: We record whether you have an active subscription (Free Explorer, Gemistry Pro, or Gemistry Lab) to unlock the appropriate features.
• In-app purchase data: Purchases are processed by Apple and managed by RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never handle your payment card details directly.
• Collection data: Your gem vault entries, notes, and images are stored locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers.
• Quiz progress: Your quiz scores and learning progress are stored locally on your device.
• Camera and photo library: If you add photos to your vault entries, the app requests access to your camera and photo library solely to let you capture or select images. These images are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
• App usage analytics (optional): We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as which gemstones are viewed most) to improve the app. This data cannot be linked back to you.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your Gemistry account
• To verify and apply your subscription entitlements
• To respond to support requests
• To send important service updates (not marketing, unless you opt in)
• To improve app features and content through aggregated analytics

4. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services:

• Apple App Store & StoreKit: Handles all payment processing for subscriptions. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscription status and purchase validation. They receive your Apple anonymised subscriber ID and subscription state. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

We do not use advertising networks, tracking SDKs, or data brokers.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your collection vault, quiz progress, and local preferences are stored on your device using your device's secure local storage. This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly export it (Gemistry Lab feature).

Account information (name, email, subscription tier) is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. We use industry-standard security practices to protect any data we handle.

6. Account Deletion

You can delete your Gemistry account at any time from within the app: go to the Account tab and tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your account credentials and locally stored data from your device. Any active subscription must be cancelled separately through your Apple ID account settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions), as Apple manages all billing independently.

To request deletion of any data we may hold, email us at gemistryprosupport@eandtapps.co.uk. We will process your request within 30 days.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, local data is removed immediately. Any server-side records (such as subscription history held by RevenueCat) are subject to their respective data retention policies.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of any non-essential data collection

9. Children's Privacy

Gemistry is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
